Experts discussed prospects of forest industry at the summit in Novosibirsk

19 September 2013 ` 00:44

Novosibirsk hosted the international summit “Experience of the leading European companies in the wood processing industry” on September 10-13 in the framework of the International exhibition TEKHNODREV Siberia.

The representative of the Finnish consulting company Indufor Allan Flink presented the outlook on production and consumption of wood and main trends of the industry development. According to him, the key aspects of enhancing the competitiveness of the forest industry is changing the model of forest management towards more intensive one, as well as access to new markets using the existing scientific potential.

Consumption of cardboard, according to Flink, is growing thanks to the emerging markets, especially China. According to the forecast of the company, by 2026 the production of market cardboard is expected to increase by nearly 100 million tonnes. This stems from the trend to introduce eco-friendly paper packaging instead of plastic one.

According to the expert, China’s competitive advantage is the flexible legal system that takes into account both internal needs of the state, including social needs, and world trends in financial and economic relations.

For Russia, bioenergy is a promising market. Presently the Government of the Russian Federation develops a plan to use low-grade wood as well as wastes of logging and wood processing in biofuel projects. “In Russia, positive examples of such projects begin to emerge only now,” told the head of Department of state policy in forest use and reforestation at the Ministy for Nature Pavel Trushevsky. “But these are initiatives from the grassroots. Our goal is to implement the project systematically across the country through the existing plan”.

Such companies as Vecoplan AG, MegaKone Oy, Promill Stolz, RUF, Springer, Comerc, Olofsfors LLC, MDM-TEKHNO, Amkodor LLC, Komek machinery LLC held presentations of their products. Much attention was paid to the expositions of regions of Siberia: Altai, Kemerovo, Tomsk, Omsk and Novosibirsk.

The International conference and exhibition TEKHNODREV Siberia is arranged by RESTEC association and the Russian representative office of Deutsche Messe AG (Germany), Deutsche Messe RUS LLC.
