At least 2 billion rubles will be invested in the modernization of the pulp mill in Pitkyaranta
According to the administration of the head of the Republic of Karelia, at the Russian investment forum, which was held from February 14 to February 15, 2019, in Sochi, an agreement was signed that allows not only to preserve but also to modernize the city-forming enterprise of Pitkaranta.
On February 15, 2019, the head of the Republic of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov and the General Director of the limited liability company “RK-Grand” Konstantin Malyshev signed an agreement of intent between the Government of the Republic of Karelia and “RK-Grand”. Within the framework of the agreement, LLC “RK-Grand” will invest at least 2 billion rubles in the modernization of the Pitkyarantsky pulp plant. In particular, it is planned to modernize a number of workshops, supply new equipment, which will increase the production of up to 130 thousand tons of pulp per year. In addition, a second multi-fuel boiler will be built, which will reduce the consumption of fuel oil for production and reduce the negative impact on the environment. The company also plans gasification of the enterprise. The project for the development of pulp production in Pitkyaranta is included in the list of activities of the Federal target program “Development of the Republic of Karelia until 2020”.
In 2021 the pitkäranta plant celebrates 100 years. The head of the Republic proposed to create a working group that will work on the preparation of the anniversary of the city-forming enterprise. Artur Parfenchikov took the initiative on the terms of the public-private partnership to create a Fund and work out joint projects for the improvement of Pitkaranta and prepare a number of socially oriented projects. Konstantin Malyshev supported this idea and assured that “RK-Grand” LLC is ready to invest in social projects of the city.
