Asia-Les to build a pellet line in Khabarovsk region

12 September 2014 ` 15:06

Asia-Les sawmill in Khabarovsk region will start production of pellets from sawmill wastes with a capacity of 70,000 tonnes by 2015. The company will also install a biofuel cogeneration CHP with electrical capacity of 4.5 MW and thermal capacity of 27 MW, according to the Infobio agency. The CHP will fully cover the energy needs of the plant.

The biofuel line will be delivered turnkey by a Spanish company Prodesa. Sawing line for the project is prepared by Austrian Springer, drying chambers by Swedish Valutec, while management and measurement system – by an Italian company MicroTec.

Most likely, the company will deliver pellets to South Korea, which is a major consumer of pellets in Asia. Currently, the Russian Far East has just one large pellet production, which is Arkaim in Khabarovsk region.

Eastern Siberia does not have much of them either. However, the situation may change soon. The intention to build a pellet plant in the Irkutsk region was declared by Russian Timber Group. Recently, a similar statement has been made by Lesosibirsk LDK-1 (Krasnoyarsk region). Currently, the management of this mill completes the selection of equipment supplier and revision of the technical project.
