Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill invested 3.5 billion rubles in upgrading its transport infrastructure
Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill conducted a large-scale upgrading of infrastructure of its entire logistics structure over two years, as reported by the corporate press office. The total value of investments was 3.5 billion rubles.
Specifically, the mill expanded the semi-trailer parking to 100 units with all accompanying services to optimize cargo transport.
To improve its logistics capabilities and eliminate bottlenecks, the mill also overhauled its in-house railway station by building six additional shunting lines for train staging, doubling the area of container yards to increase the train processing capacity, and extending the main lines at the railway station. The loading area was improved to accommodate five container trains, making it possible to increase the quantity of stored containers, extend the loading & unloading track, and expand the access track to the railway station of Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill.
At the moment, the mill loads up to 23 container trains per month (before upgrading the transport infrastructure, it was only able to load two or three trains). Three new container yards with the total area of 26,000 m² are in operation after the completion of construction, and 2 existing yards have been upgraded.
Due to the great volume of specifically container transport and markets reorientation to China, three new tracks with the total length of 1,500 km were built additionally.
Another major project by Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill was the capital overhaul of the bridge leading to the venue’s third phase. 1.6 billion rubles was invested in this project alone.
