Almost twice increased tax revenues from the enterprises of timber industry of Karelia in 2018
In 2018, the enterprises of the forest complex of the Republic of Karelia almost doubled tax revenues to the consolidated budget of the Republic of Karelia, they amounted to more than 3.2 billion rubles (222.8 % to the level of 2017), according to the Ministry of natural resources and ecology of the Republic.
The share of timber industry complex of the Republic is more than 34% and is represented by logging enterprises (465 organizations and individual entrepreneurs), woodworking enterprises (552 organizations and individual entrepreneurs), including 10 large sawmills that produce 90% of all products, enterprises for the production of wood boards, pulp and paper industry.
As a result of the work last year, there was a positive dynamics of the timber industry in a number of components. Production of longitudinally sawn timber increased – 100.2% by 2017, paper – 110.7%, bags and paper bags – 115.2%, pulp – 110%.
The products of the forest sector of the Republic are in demand in many countries of the world. The main consumers are Finland, Germany, China, Egypt, Turkey, the Baltic countries. About 20% of unprocessed round timber, 90% of sawn timber, 80% of newsprint and 90% of commercial pulp are exported.
