Roslesinforg: timber harvesting in Russia decreased by 4.5% in 1H 2022
According to Roslesinforg, the volume of timber harvesting in Russia following the results of the 1H 2022 decreased by 4.5% YoY to 100.3 million m³. Positive dynamics was recorded only in the Central and Ural federal districts — 5.2% and 3.3%, respectively.
In the forest districts of the country, the decrease is within 12%. In the Northwestern Federal District in 1H 2022, timber harvesting decreased by 11.9% YoY to 27.4 million m³. The Vologda and Arkhangelsk regions harvested the most in the region — about 7.6 million m³ of wood in each subject. A strong decrease was noted in the Leningrad region — by 31% YoY to 1.95 million m³, and the Novgorod region — by 19.7% YoY to 1.1 million m³.
In Siberia, total timber harvests decreased by 1.8% YoY to 32.4 million m³. At the same time, positive dynamics was recorded in five subjects at once: Novosibirsk region — by 32% to 476,000 m³, Kemerovo region — by 11.4% to 847,200 m³, Tuva — by 7.1% to 98,980 m³, Tomsk region — by 6.3% to 3.6 million m³, Krasnoyarsk Krai — by 1.6% to 11.2 million m³. Irkutsk region became the leader in logging in the region — 14.2 million m³.
In the Far East, the volume of timber harvesting in 1H 2022 decreased by 1.6% YoY to 8.7 million m³. In the main procurement regions, such as the Khabarovsk Krai, Buryatia and Primorye, the decline dynamics is 3-6%. At the same time, Primorye became the leader in terms of harvesting volumes in the district — 1.9 million m³.
In the Volga region, during the reporting period, the decrease in logging amounted to 6.7% to 13.7 million m³. Most of the wood was harvested in the Kirov region — 4.3 million m³.
