On June 25, 2019, the grand opening of the Pavlovsky woodworking plant, a new industrial facility of Altailes, took place. The plant is located in the village of Pavlovsk, Altai Krai. The combine processes low-grade wood and lets out the product demanded in the market – wood-fiber boards of medium (MDF) and high (HDF) density.

Investments in the project amounted to 6 billion rubles. The declared capacity of the plant is 250 thousand m3 of wood boards per year. Since the start of production at the plant produced more than 10 thousand m3 of fiberboard.

As previously reported by WhatWood Agency, thin plates are the highest-margin product of the plant.

When answering the question of WhatWood Agency about the percentage of production of thin MDF in the total volume of production, Dmitry Loginov, Commercial Director of Altailes said: “at the moment, commissioning works are carried out at the Pavlovsky DOK, and the plant produces 30-40 % of thin boards– this MDF with a thickness of 2.5 mm to 10 mm, which are mainly sold to manufacturers of floor coverings, doors, etc. And in the near future, when the plant is 100% of production capacity, the volume of production of thin MDF will grow to 90%”. In addition, Mr. Loginov noted that the sale of plates will be carried out mainly not through the dealer network, but directly to large consumers of MDF.

At the plant in Pavlovsk installed equipment from leading manufacturers are Siempelkamp, Holtec, Andritz. It produces boards of formats and thicknesses of the extended range. The press allows to let out wood panels from 2 100 to 2 800 mm wide, from 2,5 to 40 mm thick.

As the head of the sales division of the company Siempelkamp Ulrich Kaiser assured that “Siempelkamp has supplied to the plant high-tech equipment – press ContiRoll ninth generation. Therefore, the Pavlovsky DOK wood panels will be known for their quality not only at the regional and interregional level, but also worldwide, and the MDF products will be associated with only high quality products”.
