Woodworking company from the Republic of Komi has established the supply of fuel briquettes to the European Union
Azimut LLC is a new timber enterprise, which replaced the former Troitsko-Pechorsk forestry. The company is implementing a priority investment project in the field of forest development “Creation of a timber processing plant for deep processing of wood”. The volume of investments amounted to more than 630 million rubles.
Although the main products of the plant are dry lumber, bioenergy based on wood raw materials from the very beginning has become one of the priorities of the project. In 2013 Azimut was among the first in the Republic of Komi to start production of fuel briquettes of RUF form factor from its own wood waste, using the Republican financial support.
In subsequent years, two more lines were installed already producing Nielsen briquettes (cylindrical shape). It was Nielsen briquettes that became the main biofuel products of Azimut, at first they were supplied only to consumers in the Komi Republic, but then there were buyers in the markets of Europe. This is not an ordinary situation, as it is believed that only RUF briquettes have export prospects.
Now the plant ships products to Poland, Germany, the Baltic countries. Briquettes are Packed in a film of 10 kg in a package, stacked on pallets and sent to consumers by rail.
Among other bioenergy projects of “Azimut” is the construction of a mini-TPS with a capacity of 2.5 MW of electricity, which will be able to use as fuel the bark and wood waste of sawmill production. Equipment for thermal power plants has already been purchased, its installation is underway, the completion of works is planned in 2020.
