The State Duma of Russia believes that “the new forest code is a new model of forest management»
According to the results of the National forest forum, which was held in Tyumen from April 11 to April 12, Deputy of the State Duma, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on natural resources, property and land relations Nikolai Nikolaev in an interview with radio “Vesti.FM” noted that at the moment “there is a serious discussion about whether it is necessary to develop a new Forest code”.
According to the representative of the authorities, “when discussing the new Forest code, it implies a new model of forest management. But first of all, it is necessary to assess whether the existing model was effective. For example, what was completely forgotten in the existing code, when it was developed, was not taken into account the rights of people, unlike business, the state, their powers and relationships.”
Recall that 12 years ago the Forest code was updated, but there were many flaws. And during this period, the code was amended. Now more than 40 versions of the document. Therefore, the situation is ambiguous.
“On the one hand, there is a serious chance to take into account all the mistakes that were made earlier in the new version of the code. If there is a revision of those provisions that are already lame, it is better not to approach the solution of this issue,”-said Mr. Nikolaev.
