The production capacity of the SCA Tunadal Sawmill plant will increase to 900 thousand cubic meters per year
SCA is applying for a new environmental permit for the Tundal Sawmill, the press service reported. Currently, the company has a permit for the maximum output of 600 thousand cubic meters of solid wood products per year. The SCA decided to continue to increase production capacity and increase them to 900 thousand cubic meters of products annually.
“We are gradually increasing production capacity at the Tunadal sawmill and will soon reach the maximum allowed by our current environmental permit,” – says Jerry Larsson, President of SCA Wood.– “Now we would like to continue the development of the plant.”
Production can be increased by more efficient use of the existing plant, but this will require investment in additional drying capacity and more space for processing raw materials, finished products and by-products. Energy production can also become relevant for the sawmill. Currently, bark and dried wood chips are transported to the Ortviken paper mill, where they are used for fuel production.
The new sawmill line was opened at the sawmill in 2016. Over the past ten years, SCA has invested more than SEK 1 billion in increasing production capacity, refining and improving the environment at Tunadal Sawmill. Tunadal sawmill Is currently one of the largest and most modern sawmills in Sweden.
