The Ministry of industry and trade of Russia told about the construction of five new pulp and paper mills worth about 580 billion rubles
Priorities in the development of the pulp and paper industry and the forest industry were discussed at the IV international Conference “PPI of Russia-new realities, new opportunities”.
In his speech, Deputy Minister of industry and trade of the Russian Federation Viktor Evtukhov noted that “now we are considering five potential investment projects for the creation of pulp and paper industries with a volume of 4.5 million tons of pulp production and investment of about 580 billion rubles. They are declared by major market players in different regions of the country, selected based on the availability of forest resources and set out In the strategy for the development of the forest complex until 2030. Taking into account the export orientation of pulp and paper mill products, the creation of new production facilities will lead to a significant increase in the production and export of timber products.”
We are talking about projects for the organization of new pulp and paper capacities in the Krasnoyarsk region (Segezha Group-1.3 million tons of cellulose, investment – 156 billion rubles, Kraslesinvest – 830 thousand tons of cellulose, investment – 102 billion rubles), Khabarovsk territory (RFP Group – 500 thousand tons of cellulose, investment – 90 billion rubles), Vologda region (SVEZA – 1.3 thousand tons of cellulose, investment – 150 billion rubles) and Irkutsk region ( Ilim Group – 600 thousand tons of cellulose, investments – 78 billion rubles).
According to the Ministry of industry and trade of Russia, the most attractive market segments for the pulp and paper industry in Russia until 2030 are the pulp market in China and India. The potential market opportunity for Russia for softwood pulp is 10 million tons, for hardwood pulp-6-7 million tons. In the domestic market, the priority areas are the segments of sanitary products, consumer and waste cardboard-a potential market opportunity for sanitary products -600 thousand tons, consumer cardboard-200 thousand tons, recycled cardboard-600 thousand tons.
The conference is held in Vienna on the initiative of the Union of timber and timber exporters of Russia, Russian chamber of Commerce and industry and the Association of paper industry specialists with the support of the Ministry of industry and trade of Russia. The event in Vienna became a platform for communication between the heads of public authorities, business structures, forestry and pulp and paper industries, equipment manufacturers and buyers of pulp and paper products. The event traditionally brought together the world’s largest representatives of industry business, consulting companies, manufacturers of products and equipment.
