The Federal forestry agency called the number of forest fires in 2018

According to RIA Novosti, almost 10 thousand forest fires are registered in Russia in 2018. This was reported by the Deputy head of the Federal forestry agency (Rosleskhoz) Nikolai Krotov at the meeting “Topical issues of respect for the rights of citizens in forest management.” The event was held on the 28th of November.

According to Mr. Krotov, ” Russia registered 9.9 thousand forest fires, the area covered by the fire — 3.2 million hectares.”

Earlier it was noted that the indicators of 2018 and the number and area of fires are at the level of the average for five years. In 2017, the area of forest fires in Russia amounted to 1.4 million hectares,which is 44% less than in 2016. The number of fires last year in the forest fund amounted to 9.2 thousand.
