26 March 2014 ` 22:51

Sveza company shared some details in the press about the project of softwood and hardwood kraft pulp mill in the Vologda region.

The technological scheme of the mill was prepared by the consultants of Sweco (Sweden) and Poyry (Finland), as web portal Gorodche quotes. Within a radius of 250-300 km from the pulpmill, 7 to 8 thousand additional jobs will be created in related service industries (forestry, transportation, woodworking etc.)

Total output will exceed one million tonnes of bleached kraft pulp per year. Sales will focus on external markets, primarily Chinese and European.

“We expect to complete all approvals in 2014. Many things also depend on the state, in terms of assistance in creating external infrastructure and giving tax privileges,” as said in the message of the company.

“If state monopolies won’t allocate resources to construct energy, rail and road infrastructure, a consortium of investors will not be able to handle this project,” agrees the Vologda region governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov quoted by ITAR-TASS agency.

The governor said that four sites are now regarded for the project, two of them being basic options (industrial parks Sheksna and Sokol). The development of the mill is to start in 2015, putting it into operation is scheduled for 2020.
