Segezha Group to build a new glulam plant in Karelia

10 November 2021 ` 18:03

Segezha Group is planning the construction of a glued laminated timber plant in the town of Segezha in the Republic of Karelia. Investment in the project will amount to some RUB 13.4 billion. The plant’s output will be 240,000 m³. The commission is scheduled for 2023. The plant will manufacture glulam products for Russia, the EU member states and Japan. Pre-design submittals are being prepared by Giprobum JSC, owned by Segezha Group.

The new plant will be located next to the Group’s primary asset in the Republic of Karelia, Segezha Pulp and Paper Mill JSC. The chippings left from manufacturing will be processed at Segezha Pulp and Paper Mill JSC, ensuring synergy between the new plant and the existing facility.

At the moment, Sokol Woodworking Plant JSC is the only Segezha Group facility manufacturing glued laminated timber. Its glulam output is 100,000 m³. Upon completion of the project in Karelia, the total glulam output of the holding will increase by 240% (to 340,000 m³).
