Russian Wood Resources Price Bulletin 04-2020 has published
Uncertainty in the timber harvest market is increasing. Interviewed WhatWood industry participants continue to maintain a moderate-downbeat mood. In February-March, mills actively bought the necessary raw materials from the market, saturating its stock exchanges.
Russian particleboard, MDF, plywood mills permits a decrease in production volumes and do not rule out the shutdown of their production assets. Some factories have already suspended the production of particleboard and MDF / HDF, simultaneously conducting scheduled preventive reparing works.
In the pulp and paper industry in the spruce logs segment, there was a multidirectional price dynamics: some mills located in the Leningrad Region raised prices by 200-300 rubles / m3, while others, after increasing in March, rolled back prices by 400-500 rubles / m3.
In April, traders noted a decline in prices in the coniferous sawlog segment. Some Leningrad’s region sawmills have reduced purchase prices for spruce and pine logs.
