Prices for Russian sawn softwood in China have reached their peak

29 December 2017 ` 10:22

Demand for sawnwood is still outgrowing supply in China. In this context, prices for Russian Northwest spruce sawnwood peaked at $270/m3 (1-4 SF 30×125/150, center boards, Shanghai port) in November 2017. Prices for European spruce sawnwood have been reaching the level of $280-285/m3. Prices for pine sawnwood have also been growing in November, reaching the level of $250-260/ m3.

Customers note the shortage of thin pine board 19*100 and others in ports. However, traders report that sawnwood prices for selling to factories show no growth and do not keep up with the dynamics in ports.
