In the Altai region implemented the initiative of Ivan Valentik for a moratorium on logging in pine forests
A temporary ban on timber harvesting and logging will be introduced in the near future in several state nature reserves of regional importance, located on the territory of the unique belt forests of the Altai territory. The moratorium will initially be introduced in Mamontovskiy, Aleyska and Zavyalovsk reserves. This was reported in the FFA.
The initiative to introduce a moratorium on logging was expressed by the Deputy Minister of natural resources and the environment – head of the Federal Forestry Agency Ivan Valentyk at the meeting of the scientific and technical Council of the Ministry, held on December 26, 2018.
Earlier, speaking at the “government hour” in the state Duma, Ivan Valentik also commented on the difficult situation with belt burs, noting that in 2019 in Altai it is planned to create a separate forest area with special rules of management with the priority of protection of belt burs.
According to the Deputy Minister of natural resources and environment – head of the Federal Forestry Agency, “we need systematic measures to assess what is happening in these areas.” Ivan Valentik stressed that “in the shortest possible time it is necessary to create a working group to prepare a road map for the formation of a separate forest area, to discuss the creation of especially protective forest areas and to introduce a temporary moratorium on logging until such time as conceptually the permissible parameters of forest use in the Altai belt forests are determined”.
Since March 15, 2019, a moratorium on logging and timber harvesting has been introduced in only three reserves. He will act in them to the establishment of specially protected areas.
It should be noted that at the moment in two reserves, also located in the zone of belt hogs, special protection zones, and especially protective sites have already been allocated, additional surveys are planned on the territory of several more.
