In 2022, Rosleskhoz approved 18 applications for implementation of priority investment projects in the forest sector

In November and December 2022, the Federal Forestry Agency (Rosleskhoz) approved 4 applications, i.e., from Volga JSC (Nizhny Novgorod Region), Promtech-Invest (Komi), Starwood, and Angara-Timberline (Irkutsk Region), with the total AAC of 3.4 million m³.

  • Volga JSC: upgrading timber processing facilities to produce new types of paper for corrugation and increase the plant’s capacity by 140,000 tons per year.
  • Promtech-Invest: upgrading production facilities, installing sawmilling capacities, and building a forest nursery (1 million softwood seedlings per year).
  • Starwood: creating a harvesting enterprise with a capacity of over 2.3 million m³ and creating a timber processing enterprise to process 1.5 million m³.
  • Angara Timberline: upgrading timber processing facilities.

Forest areas with the annual allowable cut of 73.8 million m³ were leased to provide raw material for 176 priority investment projects (both ongoing and completed ones).

“Over 12 years, 122 priority investment projects have been implemented in 31 regions of Russia. The required AAC volume, according to applications, is 61.2 million m³ of timber. Forest areas with the annual allowable cut of 54.3 million m³ were actually leased, covering 89% of the declared need. The volume of timber harvested by investors in H1 2022 was 15.8 million m³,” Alexander Panfilov, Deputy Head of Rosleskhoz, noted.
