In 2020, within an investment project, Sveza Kostroma to purchase 50 railway flatcars to perform deliveries of raw materials worth 150 million rubles
Own fleet of railway transport will allow the enterprise to completely abandon technical runs and reduce the number of leased flatcars while covering 40% of its need for rolling stock. Previously, the plant rented about 170 railcars per month to perform the supplies of raw materials.
“Railway transport is the best solution for transporting roundwood because of its versatility, accessibility, reliability, safety, and efficiency,” says Elena Golubeva, Regional Procurement Manager for Raw Materials at Sveza. “Investments in the project will amount to about 150 million rubles, which, in turn, will bring significant savings and reduce the average annual cost of railway transportation by 15%.” In 2019, in the framework of investment projects for the development of harvesting and roundwood hauling companies in the Kostroma region, the company acquired five DAF log trucks. The investments amounted to almost 57 million rubles. Each of the vehicles can transport 45-50 m3 of wood. The purchase of log trucks made it possible for the mill to directly cooperate with harvesting enterprises that do not have their own transportation vehicles.
