In 2019, the plant “Sveza Manturovo” with the help of snowing preserved a record amount of wood
As reported by the enterprise press-service, in 2019 the plant “Sveza Manturovo” mothballed 46 thousand m3 of timber. This is the largest volume of raw materials harvested in this way in the history of the plant.
According to the head of the procurement service of Sveza Manturovo Nadezhda Ershova, “serious work was carried out, and this volume of the plant was prepared for the future for the first time.”
Wood preservation by snow of veneer logs is called the way of storing plywood raw materials, which are laid in stacks of raw wood (logs or the logs) covered with snow, tamped, and then the top is covered with sawdust. Due to this, the snow does not melt even in the hot weather. The forest harvested in this way retains all the characteristics of “winter” wood, which is not only drier, but also significantly stronger than summer. In addition,” canned ” raw materials are actively used during the rainy summer or autumn thaw, when the passage to the forest for timber harvesting is limited.
The practice of snowing wood is quite common among the woodworking industry. In this regard, all the enterprises of the company “Sveza” every year, conserve raw materials by using a method of wood preservation by snowing. Among all branches, the combine in Manturovo the first began to apply such practice of” preparation ” of wood for the future. For the first time, there began to use this method in 2011.
