In 2019, it is expected that the forest area leased by Segezha Group enterprises will grow to 9.1 million hectares, the volume of the forest cutting fund – to 10.9 million cubic meters. This was reported by the press service of the company.
In addition, according to the roadmap, in Karelia in the second half of 2019, Segezha Group loggers (lease area in the Republic – 3.4 million hectares) will receive new regulations and the opportunity to begin work on an intensive model of forest management. Accordingly, this year planned and a significant increase in works on reforestation.
In 2018, the company increased both the leased forest area (7.4 million hectares against 6.4 million hectares a year earlier) and the volume of the cutting area (from 6.4 million cubic meters in 2017 to 7.5 million cubic meters. in 2018). The volume of investments in reforestation amounted to about 55.7 million rubles, also exceeding by 4% last year’s level (53.7 million rubles).
Reforestation works carried out annually from May to October, performed in 2018 on an area of 22.9 thousand hectares, which is 25% more than in 2017. Forest cultures are planted on the area of 1.2 thousand hectares, sowing of seeds is carried out on 1.6 thousand hectares. All planting material is zoned and certified. The work was carried out in accordance with the approved schedule and accepted by the state forestry. The group of companies spent 2.7 million rubles on fire-fighting measures in 2018.
