In 2018, exports of forest products from Finland increased by 5%, and imports – by 34%

In 2018, the value of exports of forest products from Finland amounted to €13,20 billion, +5% yoy, according to Luke. For comparison: according to the calculations of the WhatWood agency, exports of forest products from Russia to 2018 amounted to $ 13,39 billion.

In the product structure, there is a decrease in the cost of exports of wood machining products to €2.90 billion (-5%).
The value of pulp and paper exports increased by 8% (yoy) to €10.31 billion.

In 2018, wood imports to Finland amounted to 11.55 million m3 (+34% yoy). The share balance amounted to 63%, chips― 27%, sawlogs, and veneer logs―6%, fuelwood― 4%. In Russia, the share of timber purchase was 71 %, in Estonia and Latvia – 12% and 9%, respectively.
