The Chinese market has been and remains a driver of demand for sawn timber all over the world. According to Dmitry Krylov, the general director of  “Sawmill 25” (located in the Arkhangelsk region), practically all the additional volume of the sawn timber produced after commissioning of the new production line at the mill Site #3 is directed right to the Chinese market.

He also indicated that in 2017 producers everywhere encountered a shortage of raw timber linked with the weather conditions unfavorable for logging. This led to the price growth for the raw timber, some shortage of supply at the sawn timber market and respectively to the growth of prices for sawn timber in China. All this happened against the background of continuous demand for sawn timber in China.

Therefore, the customers in Europe and Northern Africa had to correct their approaches to the price formation in order to meet own demand in sawn timber. “Regardless of the market fluctuations there will be always demand for the Russian sawn timber, Dmitry Krylov is sure. And, as this always happens, when the demands drops those producers, who have a reputation of a reliable supplier with a well-adjusted regularity of high quality lumber deliveries will have the least problems with their product sales”.
