FBU “Roslesozaschita” will work on land inventory, which should be performed in 2019 on 7% of forest land in 2020 by 30%, in 2021 by 40%, by 2024 on the remaining 60% of the area
Acting Director of FBU “Roslesozaschita” Pavel Popov met with the Director of the all-Russian research Institute of forestry and mechanization of forestry Alexander Martynyuk.
This was reported to the FBI “Rosleszashita”. During the meeting, which was attended by specialists of the two institutions, the leaders discussed step-by-step cooperation in the issues of scientific and methodological support for the development of recommendations for the identification of land not occupied by forest plantations and requiring reforestation, using remote sensing technologies. Within the framework of the Federal project “forest Conservation” FBU “Roslesozaschita” work on land inventory is to be carried out in 2019 on 7% of the forest land area, in 2020 on 30%, in 2021 on 40%, by 2024 on the remaining 60% of the area.
Acting Director of the FBI “Roslesozashchita” Pavel Popov said:
“To date, the FBU “Roslesozaschita” has prepared a draft of recommendations for the identification of land not occupied by forest plantations and requiring reforestation, using remote sensing methods, as well as the technology of land inventory. For us, this type of work is innovative. The all-Russian research Institute of forestry and mechanization of forestry has experience of similar scientific developments approved By the scientific and technical Council of Rosleskhoz, which can be adapted to solve our problems.”
In the hall of the Academic Council, VNIILM Pavel Popov and Alexander Martynyuk have confirmed their intentions for the approval of the FBI “Roslesozashchita” methods of predicting outbreaks of mass reproduction of the economic threat of forest insects, prepared by the Institute in the framework of the research work. As the forecast types selected Siberian moth, Gypsy moth and bark beetle. The implementation of scientific developments in practice will take place in the field season of 2019. The Central office and 10 branches of FBU “Roslesozaschita” will participate in pilot projects. Testing will be held in 11 regions of the Russian Federation.
