Exports of birch veneer logs to China continued to grow in 2018
Exports of birch veneer logs to China showed the highest dynamics of growth among all types of assortments of round wood.
Sales of all assortments were generally reducing. Thus, exports of pine sawlogs in 2018 decreased by 20.2% (YoY) to 2.96 million m3, larch sawlogs – by 1.5% (YoY) to 2.28 million m3, spruce sawlogs – by 0.4% (YoY) to 2.8 million m3. Exports of spruce pulpwood to China amounted to 577,000 m3 (+10.4% (YoY), larch balances – 417,000 m3 (+3.2% (YoY). In general, the decline in exports of softwood logs from Russia to China in 2018 amounted to 7.8% (YoY) to 9.2 million m3.
Exports of birch veneer logs grew by 10.5% (YoY) to 1.78 million m3, the sales of aspen pulpwood remained at the same level – 519,000 m3, oak sawlogs – 196,000 m3 (-3.4% (YoY), Manchurian ash sawlogs – 109,000 m3 (-20.6% (YoY)).
