DOK Kalevala is planning to resume production in H2 2025
DOK Kalevala, one of the largest OSB producers in Russia, is planning to restore the plant’s functionality in H2 2025. New equipment will be delivered to the enterprise this April. This was reported by the press office of Karelia’s official web portal.
In late April 2024, a fire spanning the area of 600 m² broke out at the enterprise after a production accident, and the plant had to suspend production operations as a result. Svetlana Astakhova, Minister of Industry and Trade of Karelia, confirmed that it was the shutdown of one of the region’s largest enterprises that prevented Karelia from improving its timber industry production index in 2024.
The Head of the local Ministry of Industry and Trade reported that the timber processing volume and production of timber goods dropped by 14.1% in 2024. Ms. Astakhova added that besides the downtime at DOK Kalevala, the reduction was affected by the general nationwide performance decline in construction—an industry that needs timber and metal goods.
