According to the press service of Segezha Group, a new pellet plant was officially lauched on December 19 at the industrial site of Lesosibirsk LDK №1 (Segezha Group, AFK “Sistema”) in Lesosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk region. Commissioning of modern eco-friendly production is the result of the company’s priority investment project in the field of forest development “development of a full-cycle woodworking complex in Lesosibirsk”.

Investments in the production of pellets amounted to 816.6 million rubles. Production capacity-70 thousand tons of finished products, export-oriented. The total investment of Segezha Group in the development of production in the Krasnoyarsk territory exceeded 1.7 billion rubles.

The solemn event was attended by Governor of Krasnoyarsk region Alexander Uss, President, Chairman of the Board of Segezha Group Mikhail Shamolin, other leaders of the region and the company.

In his welcoming speech, the head of the Krasnoyarsk region Alexander Uss noted that the Lesosibirsk plant has produced 16 million tons of lumber over the years, has gone through difficult times, but in recent years has come to a confident path of development, to a completely new stage.

The plant has been modernized, today it has the best equipment and it has again become the leader of the forest industry, both in our region and in Russia. With regard to pellet production, it is very important, both from the point of view of economy and ecology project. Its implementation should be a good example for other enterprises working in the forest industry” – said the Governor of Krasnoyarsk region Alexander USS.

In response, the President of Segezha Group Mikhail Shamolin also expressed his gratitude to the team of Lesosibirsk LDK №1 and the builders of the new production.

When we came here six months ago, this place was only a construction site, imported building materials, reinforcement and concrete. The fact that by the end of November there will be a plant that will start working at full capacity, it was difficult to believe – said Mikhail Shamolin – the Project was implemented on time and its financing did not exceed the previously defined budget“.

The head of the company said that the company’s investment plans are not limited to the new pellet production. According to him, Segezha Group has big plans for the development of JSC “Lesosibirsky LDK №1”: it is preparing to create a large-scale chemical production with an estimated output of up to 500 thousand tons of cellulose per year.

Over the past 30 years, technology in the forest business has taken a huge step forward. And if the timber was considered to be environmentally harmful, but now everything has changed. Russia is the No. 1 country in terms of coniferous raw material reserves, but is only on the 10th place in the world in terms of pulp quality. We need to change these statistics. We plan to produce timber and chemical products, and when all the state examinations are passed, I think it will be a completely different level of construction, a different level of the plant and a different level of income and taxes for the region,” – Mikhail Shamolin concluded. He said that the construction will begin in 2020, and expressed the hope that by 2022 the production will be launched.

Also for the future development of wood pellet production at Lesosibirskiy LDK No. 1 is preparing additional internal rail infrastructure, including 3 km of the branches of the railway tracks, bypass tracks and switches. Together with the processing of wood waste, this will provide not only an increase in its capacity, but also additional logistics for the shipment of finished products. This is an important step for the development of export-oriented biotechnological forest complex in Lesosibirsk. Five new railway routes of 138 containers per month will allow to supply products to any market.

Lesosibirsk LDK №1 is one of the leaders in Russia in sawmilling. The plant has been operating on the world market for 50 years. Every year LLDK №1 processes more than 1 million cubic meters of roundwood with an output of about 600 thousand cubic meters of finished products per year. The company has a significant forest resource base, modern logging and sawmilling facilities. Products are exported to Europe, including the UK, France, Spain, Belgium, North Africa and the Middle East, as well as to China. LLDK No. 1 is one of the city-forming enterprises of the monocity of Lesosibirsk, providing jobs for about 3.5 thousand people.
