Over 9 months of 2023, the Russian roundwood export to EEU countries grew by almost 15%

In January–September 2023, countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) increased the roundwood import from Russia by almost 15% YoY, up to 195,000 m³ (over 9 months of 2022, it was 166,000 m³), as reported by the Federal Forestry Agency (Rosleskhoz). With 180,800 m³, Kazakhstan was the key buyer. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan (11,800 m³), Belarus (1,100 m³), and Armenia (693.1 m³).
As of March 2022, the Government of the Russian Federation introduced the limits on exporting certain types of roundwood to EEU member states. The quotas are recalculated for 2023 and subsequent years based on the average annual volumes of roundwood export to these countries.
