In 2017, the wood pellet export from Russia grew by one quarter

In 2017, Russian pellet manufacturers set another record for export sales, selling a total of 1.4 million pellets (+26% as compared to 2016).

The export growth was ensured by new enterprises and reaching the production capacities by previously commissioned plants.

The main contribution according the results of 2017 was ensured by “Vyborg Forestry Development Corporation” (the Leningrad region, Sovetsky urban-type settlement), which was idle for the most of 2016. In 2017, the company returned to the leaders and became the largest manufacturer, shipping 201,500 tons to European markets (mainly to Denmark, 73% of sales).

    Many developed countries regards biomass fuel as an important energy source. Wood pellets will play a more important role in the future.
