Whether to introduce private ownership of the forest

The Russian authorities increasingly began to raise the issue of introducing private ownership of the forest. Of course, the issue has not been removed from the agenda since the adoption of the current Forest Code in 2006, and large timber merchants, at every opportunity, recall the advisability of having forest plots owned, rather than leased. But recently, the question began to sound more often and with specific proposals. This, for example, was discussed at a meeting of the Public Council at the Rosleskhoz on November 15, 2019 on the preparation of the Forest Code’s new edition. The problem remains, which new people will obviously have to solve.
