WhatWood analysts: Lumber exports from Russia in the first half-year of 2013 grew 6%

Lumber export from Russia in the first half-year of 2013 amounted to 9.93 million m3, which is 6% higher year-on-year. Export value increased by 4% to reach $1.71 billion, as analysts of WhatWood News & Analytics reported.

China has traditionally been the largest sales market for Russian lumber (3.86 million m3 compared to 3.43 million m3 a year ago). Sales to Central Asia increased by 16%, with exports reaching 2.05 million m3. Irkutsk region mills accounted for 39% of the export sales volume, Krasnoyarsk region – for 12%.

Earlier it was reported that, according to Russian Statistic Agency, lumber production in the first half-year in Russia amounted to 10.2 million m3, however, these data might be underestimated.
