23 February 2019 ` 19:00

Subsidiaries of Sistema– Segezha Group and Kronstadt Aero LLC (part of Kronstadt group) signed an agreement on the creation of an automated control system for the control of logging. Technological and system solutions will be based on the use of neural networks and artificial intelligence, which will achieve a new level of business management and accelerate the process of digitalization in the forest industry. This was reported by the press service of Segezha Group.

The main practical goal of the new development is to ensure the management of forest resources-from harvesting to transportation to the warehouse and accounting of timber.

“With the commissioning of the automated control system Segezha Group will receive a powerful control tool that will help reduce the cost of procurement and delivery of raw materials, as well as improve the efficiency of raw material management”, – said the Vice-President of Segezha Group, head of the division” Forest resources and woodworking ” Evgeny Batalov.

The system will be able to consolidate and process data from sensors installed on logging equipment from different manufacturers, and display the received information on the geoportal in real-time. Monitoring of the billet will be provided in the context of rocks, lengths, and assortments, movement of vehicles and consumption of fuels and lubricants, as well as will monitor the timely export of timber and product residues in warehouses.

“It is important that the new system will allow our specialists to better assess the data relating to forest lease areas with a logging planning horizon of 5-10 years”, – said the Vice-President of the company Evgeny Batalov. According to him, the geographic information system will also help to identify promising areas for the construction of forest roads.
