Roundwood prices rise in Finland

The price of logs kept increasing in standing sales in November 2020. The average price for pine logs was € 56.2 per m³ and the price for spruce logs was € 60.6 per m³. This was 3-5% more than the average price of year 2019 in real terms.

The price for pine pulpwood was € 17.6, the price for spruce pulpwood € 20.2 and the price for birch pulpwood € 17.1. These prices increased 2-3% from October and ended up 5% higher than the average price of the previous year.

The roadside price for pine pulpwood was € 31.9, for spruce pulpwood € 32.6 and for birch pulpwood € 32.0 per m³. The roadside price level of pulpwood went down 1% compared to the previous month.

Roundwood purchases of non-industrial, private forests included in the statistics amounted to 4.5 million m³ in November 2020. It was 45% more than in the previous year.

The trade in January-November 2020 fell 3% behind the previous year and was almost one fifth less than the average of the corresponding periods of the previous three years. Compared to the preceding year the volume of logs increased by 6% and the volume of pulpwood dropped by 10%.
