Polish furniture exports to Russia to exceed €200 million in 2013

11 October 2013 ` 12:40

The Polish furniture exports to Russia are expected to exceed €200 million in 2013, as Fordaq reported quoting Polish media. In 2009, Poland delivered to Russia furniture worth €90 million, while in 2012 this value reached €166 million.

Tomasz Wiktorski, the owner of B+R Studio and expert at the Polish Chamber of Commerce of Furniture Manufacturers, said that Russia will enter the top 5 Polish furniture export markets in the near future. At the moment, it is ninth.

Some exporters fear that Russia would impose trade constraints, but this is unlikely, taking into account recent WTO accession.

According to annual report of DOK Krasnyi Oktyabr mill, Russian furniture market capacity in 2012 grew by RUR 55 billion or 17%. Imports were growing steadily, with major suppliers being China, Italy and Germany. Partly this import growth was possible due to strong rouble.
