Ministry of industry and trade: Karelia has started a project for the production of logging equipment. The cost of the project is estimated at about 18 billion rubles

According to the Ministry of industry and trade, the company “Amkodor-Onego” acquired an industrial site to further create on its basis the production of modern logging equipment: wheeled harvesters and forwarders. The projected volume of investments under the Amkodor-Onego project is estimated at 18 billion rubles, the number of jobs planned to be created is more than 500.

The property complex of Onega tractor plant will be used to implement the project. The use of this site for the purposes of this investment project will allow preserving the accumulated profile personnel and engineering competence of the region. The project was worked out by the Ministry of industry and trade of Russia together with the government of the Republic of Karelia in the framework of the State Commission for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Karelia. As a result of multilateral negotiations in June 2018, Minister of industry and trade of Russian Federation Denis Manturov, the Head of the Republic of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company-investor JSC “AMKODOR” – managing company of holding (Republic of Belarus) Alexander Shakutin signed a Memorandum of intentions on creation in territory of the Russian Federation production of modern logging equipment.

The project also received support from the heads of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus. In February, in the former territory of the Onega tractor plant, work will begin on the creation of a new production of a number of machines for the timber industry. The project also provides for the localization of components for this equipment, which will be supplied not only for their own use but also on the conveyors of the world’s leading manufacturers of road construction and logging equipment.
