Metsä Group’s sales drop in Q1 2020

29 April 2020 ` 16:45

According to the official website of the Metsa Group, in the first quarter of 2020, sales amounted to EUR 1.253 billion, which is 12.9% less than a year earlier. Operating profit for the reporting period decreased by 66.7% to EUR 61 million.

Demand for long-fibre market pulp has increased as a result of both the significant increase in demand for tissue paper and hygiene products and the weaker availability of recycled paper.

Supported by the production shortfall attributable to the strikes early in the year, the order books for wood products in all product categories are at a higher level than in the corresponding period last year.
