The Siberian assets of the Segezha Group (enters in AFK “System”) – JSC “Lesosibirskiy LDK No. 1” and OOO “Ksilotek-Sibir” – successfully passed the international certification Program for sustainable biomass (SBP), as reported by the press service of the company.

The audit was conducted by NEPCon, a non – profit global organization promoting sustainable land use and finding solutions to climate change.

“The whole certification process, starting from the planning of the enterprise and ending with the issuance of the document by an accredited certification body, took more than six months. To prepare the company for the upcoming audit, consultants were recruited from a reputable company Biomass Consult with international experience training in this area of certification”, – said a leading expert on the issues of voluntary forest certification Lesosibirsky LDK No. 1 Vladimir Mamatov.

Biofuel production is one of the important directions of Segezha Group policy in the field of ecology and environmental protection. The launch of the pellet plant allowed the company to use wood resources in a comprehensive manner, to ensure the utilization of sawmill by-products by converting them into biofuel pellets and thermal energy.

Segezha Group investments in pellet production pellets in the Krasnoyarsk region totaled 816,6 million. The launch of a new technological line for the production of fuel pellets at the industrial site of Lesosibirsk LDK No. 1 took place on December 19, 2018. The annual production of pellets is 70 thousand tons of finished products, export-oriented. The whole volume is contracted for a year in advance.

In 2019, Segezha Group plans to ship three container trains with eco-fuel from Lesosibirsk to the Baltic ports every month for further shipment to Denmark, Italy, Sweden, and other European countries. In December 2018-January 2019 the first 5 thousand tons were shipped.
