Kondopoga pulpmill stopped two lines

Kondopoga pulp and paper mill has stopped two paper machines, as said by the Forest portal of Karelia. Presently, PM3, 7, 8 and 9 are working. The mill production is loaded at 60%, spruce pulpwood stocks last week amounted to only 8 thousand tonnes.

The management of the mill intends to start idled machines within two weeks, as reported by the General Director Dmitry Turkevich. “As far as in the summer, we predicted a protracted period of the autumn impassability of roads and planned that in this difficult time we could stop alternately paper machines for scheduled maintenance”, said Turkevich.

The General Director also noted that for the complete solution of wood scarcity problem, the mill needs own raw material base. The management is in talks with the Karelian government on the matter of allocating forest plots in Karelia, as well as in the north of Leningrad region and the west of Vologda region.
