JSC “Volga” is seeking to increase the production plan of thermomechanical mass by increasing the time of chips steaming

16 February 2019 ` 16:00

According to the press service of JSC “Volga”, the time of steaming of wood chips in the shop of the thermo-mechanical pulp of JSC “Volga” has increased by 25% due to the replacement of equipment.

This was reported by the mechanic shop TMM Sergey Kuzmichev. According to him, the need to replace three gear mixers vertical heaters arose in connection with the increase in the production plan of thermomechanical mass, which could be achieved only by increasing the time of steaming and the volume of chips from 30-40% to 70%.

In vertical heaters, the chips are mixed and impregnated with sodium sulfite before being fed to the refiners for subsequent grinding. This is the initial stage of production of thermomechanical mass, from which premium newsprint is obtained. The longer the chips are in the vertical heaters, the more effective is the saturation of chips with impregnating solution for further grinding on refiners and, accordingly, the quality of products increases.

Existing in the shop old gearboxes could not cope with the task, so it was decided to replace them with new, more productive and with increased service life. It is possible to increase the time of steaming of wood chips at 25%.

In January of this year, powerful gearboxes arrived at the “Volga”, and in early February, their installation was carried out. The new equipment was installed by the staff of the mechanical service of the shop under the guidance of the mechanic Sergey Kuzmichev.
