In 2019, more than 1.7 thousand hectares of new forest will be planted in the Voronezh region

This was reported in the Forestry Department of the Voronezh region. On the eve of the spring forestry campaign, the heads of branches of the Voronezh forest fire center discussed the strategy of the upcoming works.

Spring forest planting in recent years begins in mid-March, which means that there is not much time left for the preparation of machinery and equipment, calculations of the need for specialists and planting material.

In 2019, 1703 hectares of new forest will be planted in the region. From them 1103 hectares-forces of the forest fire center on the state task, other 600-tenants on the forest sites transferred to them in use.

An important part of the spring work will also be sowing seeds in forest nurseries. After all, this is where seedlings are grown for future planting. Now in the forest region, there are eight temporary and permanent nurseries. This year, their acreage will increase to 10.6 hectares, which will make it possible to obtain about seven million standard seedlings of pine, birch, oak, acacia and other forest species in 2020. However, the process of growing planting material in nurseries is impossible without regular watering. Therefore, this year it is planned to increase the area of irrigated areas in the Don, Boguchar, and Tellerman nurseries. To do this, they will purchase sprinkler systems and other irrigation equipment.
