On 17-18 April 2014, Khabarovsk will host Far Eastern International Forestry Forum “Development strategy for the Far Eastern forestry” with the support of the federal and regional authorities. The event is organized by RESTEC exhibition company.

Far Eastern federal district has considerable wood reserves, including 20.6 billion m3 of coniferous wood, as said in the message of RESTEC. The level of processing in the region is about 35%, which is significantly below the national average of 65%. The state programme of forestry development will allow increasing the level of deep wood processing in the region up to 70%.

In connection with last year’s floods, reforestation and construction of modern and comfortable housing are acute issues in the region.

In order to foster the development of forestry complex of the Far East, Khabarovsk will host Far Eastern International Forestry Forum on 17-18 April. The event will be held in the framework of the international exhibition TEKHNODREV Far East.

The programme of the Forum will start on April 17 with a plenary discussion “Development strategy of forestry complex of the Far East. Strategic tools for the development of forestry complex of the Far East”. It will be attended by heads of the largest timber industry enterprises, representatives of federal and regional government, scientists and journalists.

At the conference “Forestry and logging”, the parties will discuss forest fires, illegal harvesting, forest certification, improving the efficiency of harvesting, logistics, forest roads and the modernization of logging enterprises.

Among other development points, forest industry in Russia should involve low-grade and low-value hardwood into industrial production. The use of these resources will be discussed at the conference “Bioenergy. Prospects of development of alternative energy” at the forum.

Development of the home market consumption will become the topic of the conference “Woodworking in Russia: key factors of success”, which will be divided into sections “Woodworking” and “Wooden construction”.

One of the distinctive features of the Far Eastern International Forestry Forum will be its interactivity – webinars, interactive discussions, online surveys and teleconferences are included in the programme, which will allow to increase the audience of the event.
